GPN Foundation

The Greater Manchester Training hub invites NMC registered nurses who are new to general practice or returning to practice onto the foundation in General Practice Nursing Course.

Overview

The course offers 1 day per week protected learning time over 30 weeks with salary support available to the practice. To apply for the course you must be employed by a Greater Manchester GP practice, new to general practice and post 12 months qualification.

This course seeks to help nurses new or returning to practice develop their clinical skills and experience to be able to confidently deliver patient care in the primary setting. Key modules include cytology, immunisations and chronic disease management that can take a number of years at a cost to the practice to train up a nurse.

We also have a General Practice Nurse Fellowship programme including the clinical modules of the foundation course for nurses newly qualified within the last 12 months.
